The European Coil Coating Association (ECCA) was founded in 1967 and is based in Brussels. It has over 200 members spread over 18 countries and extraordinary members worldwide. ECCA UK Group was set up to represent the interests of members in the UK and is affiliated to ECCA.

The Annual General Meeting was held on April 23rd at Corus, Shotton.
Matters that were discussed included the chairman's review, reports on the Education Programme, the Distance Learning Project, ECCA Europe, and the Accounts for 2007.
Martyn Ducommun stood down as Treasurer, and Paul Heffer was elected in his place. Peter Mitchell, Nathan Good, Brian Jeffs, existing committee members, were reelected to the committee. |

Members had an interesting tour of Corus Living Solutions.

Corus Living Solutions manufactures, delivers and erects finished and fully fitted out steel framed room modules as part of a building system targeted primarily at the public sector and social residential housing. |

ECCA Objectives
- Setting of quality performance standards.
- Promotion of the benefits of coil and/or sheet coated metal with particular emphasis on environmental, cost and quality benefits.
- Encouragement of process, product, fabrication and market development.
- Increase the awareness of coil and/or sheet coated metal by organising educational programmes for training of professional designers and specifiers.
- Creating a forum for the exchange of ideas.
- Representation of the industry in its contact with public officials and public authorities.
- Providing liaison with other trade associations and professional bodies.
ECCA UK Group Objectives
- Representing the interests of members based in the UK.
- Running an education programme for university design students.
- Sponsoring a highly successful design competition for the designers of tomorrow.
- Keeping close contact with government departments on legislation governing the industry.
ECCA UK GROUP Education Programme - Design Competition
Since 1994 the UK Group has organised an annual Education Programme in association with a number of leading Universities in the UK who run specialised industrial design courses. This includes a Design Competition open to second year design students who have attended the lecture given by members of the UK Group. Each year a specific theme is set for the competition and the winners have been as follows-
