Literature

General literature is available from ECCA. In addition more detailed literature giving extensive technical information and advice on how to use coil coated products along with the range of products available can be obtained from the manufacturers and stockists as detailed in the list of members.

Literature published by ECCA includes the following-

  • Coil Coated Metal and the Automotive Industry.
  • Coil Coating and the Appliance Industry.
  • Coil Coating and the Building Industry.
  • European Coil Coating Directory (Payment Required).
  • How to Paint Ecologically.
  • Coil Coating-Saving you Money.

NORMS AND TEST METHODS

ECCA's first objective 'Setting of quality performance standards' is being achieved by the co-operation the Association has rendered and still renders to CEN and ECISS Committees in the elaboration of European Norms and specifically:

EN 10169-1: 1996 Continuously organic coated (coil coated) steel flat products-
Part 1 : General information (definitions, materials, tolerances, test methods).

prEN 10169-2 : 1995 Continuously organic coated (coil coated) steel flat products-
Part 2 : Products for building exterior applications.

EN 1396 : 1996 Aluminium and aluminium alloys coil coated sheet and strip for general applications specifications.

Furthermore ECCA elaborated the following test methods, a helpful tool for those wanting to test coil coating:

ECCA - T1 (1995) : COATING THICKNESS

ECCA - T2 (1995) : SPECULAR GLOSS

ECCA - T3 (1995) : COLOUR DIFFERENCE

ECCA - T4 (1995) : PENCIL HARDNESS

ECCA - T5 (1995) : RESISTANCE TO RAPID DEFORMATION

ECCA - T6 (1995) : ADHESION AFTER INDENTATION

ECCA - T7 (1996) : RESISTANCE TO CRACKING ON BENDING

ECCA - T8 (1997) : RESISTANCE TO SALT SPRAY FOG

ECCA - T9 (1996) : WATER IMMERSION RESISTANCE

ECCA - T10 (1996) : RESISTANCE TO UV LIGHT

ECCA - T11 (1999) : M.E.K./SOLVENT RUBBING TEST

ECCA - T12 (1996) : SCRATCH RESISTANCE

ECCA - T13 (1995) : ACCELERATED AGEING BY THE USE OF HEAT

ECCA - T14 (1996) : MEASUREMENT OF CHALKING

ECCA - T15 (1995) : METAMERISM

ECCA - T16 (1999) : ABRASION RESISTANCE

ECCA - T17 (1996) : DETERMINATION OF THE ADHESION OF STRIPPABLE FILMS

ECCA - T18 (1995) : STAIN RESISTANCE

ECCA - T19 (1996)(c) : ECCA RECOMMENDATION FOR PANEL DESIGN AND METHOD FOR ATMOSPHERIC EXPOSURE TESTING

ECCA - T21 (1997)(c) : METHOD OF EVALUATION OF OUTDOOR EXPOSURE PANELS

ECCA - T22 (1995) : VISUAL COMPARISON OF COLOURS

ECCA - T23 (1995) : COLOUR STABILITY IN HUMID ATMOSPHERES CONTAINING SULPHUR DIOXIDE
