This is the web site of the European Coil Coating (ECCA) UK Group.
On these pages you will find information about an important engineering material and the companies involved in its manufacture and use. 'Coil coated', 'pre-coated', 'pre-painted', and 'pre-finished' sheet metal are all terms used to describe this material.
How is 'pre-coat' used in design? If you don't know yet, it's time to wake up!
The alarm is going, you look at the clock face-it can't be
time to get up!
You go to the bathroom, put on the fluorescent light and reach
for your toiletries in the bathroom cabinet.
Breakfast time, then
off in the car to work.
As you arrive at your
office you admire the colour of the profiled cladding on
the adjoining factory which tones beautifully with the infil
panels on the exterior of your office.
Your employers are looking
after your environment well in the office. Again clear fluorescent
lighting set in an attractive suspended ceiling system.
The partitioning in realistic woodgrain effect blending with
the remaining partitioning and space dividers
You recover your work
from the filing cabinet and desk and start your work.
Lunch time arrives. Microwave
ovens are available for easy access to refreshments.
After work perhaps a
pint or two with your workmates, chilled through a beer cooler.
Then home where your
kitchen is fitted with the modern work saving appliances including
a cooker, washing machine, refrigerator and dishwasher, all
gleaming.
In the evening you relax
with music on the CD player, watching TV and playing the
video recorder.
Finally you head for
bed looking forward to tomorrow-but not the morning alarm!
All the underlined products
use coil coated steel and aluminium extensively. Products where
it is a matter of paint first, fabricate later. All day you have
been surrounded by and influenced by a host of products made out
of precoat. Surprised? Want to know more? Then click opposite.
